Description:
Our client is recruiting for an Export Area Sales Manager to drive new business and maintain existing client relationships.
Overall Responsibility:
To achieve Sales targets (growth) selling lamps, LED and accessory products into Export market. Market territories to be confirmed upon experience of candidate.
Key areas of responsibility:
· Quoting to customers via email and closing deals.
· Input orders and ensure order for stock has been placed.
· Negotiating some pricing with suppliers.
· Proactive, persistent development of new and current customers via telephone or other methods.
· Maintain and update contacts database.
· Identify new business opportunities.
· Develop and maintain internal working relationships to ensure good service to the customer.
· Foreign travels to visit customers or exhibitions.
1. Ability to generate new business.
Need to be highly proactive, must be able to source new contacts / potential customers from range of different sources. Not afraid to approach new contacts / cold calling etc. and often get over the hurdle of language communication difficulties.
Spanish/Arabic/Mandarin highly useful/desirable.
Persistence, do not give up attitude is required to turn prospects into new customers, often initial negative response, sometimes can take time for new customers.
2. Essential to be interested/enjoy dealing with overseas clients. Ability to develop close business relationships with customers/offer high levels customer service. We win business because of the relationship that has been developed.
3. Need sensitivity, understanding and awareness of a wide range of different business cultures/methods.
4. Need to be hardened to selling products in a very competitive marketplace, skilled at negotiating prices, commercial terms, shipping etc. Also need buying skills to negotiate price support, buying terms with manufacturers.
5. Must be well organised with good administration skills, and able to deal with many customers of varying size business, many with payment in advance, certification requirements etc. Administration is therefore a significant part of job requirement.
6. Technical aptitude for lamps and particularly with growing demand for LED products.
7. Must be team orientated, working closely with colleagues as part of small team, including shipping etc.
8. Highly competitive nature of business means that you must have a strong awareness for what is happening in the marketplace by communicating closely with customers. A key part will be understanding from customers what prices and where they are buying etc. to gain visibility on the Client's offering in terms of competitive prices, market trends, competitor actions, grey importing, competitor transport costs etc.
Skills and Qualifications required
· Sales experience
· A-levels or equivalent in Spanish language is desirable. Also consider Arabic or Mandarin.
· Technical experience in electronics desirable, particularly lamps/LED.
· Telephone/cold-calling
· Relationship building
· Export experience.
· Computer skills – M/S Office, Outlook/Outlook express, Accounts programmes (inputting orders etc).
